In the late 1950s, a San Francisco businessman turned traveler and importer began selling shiploads of hand-woven wicker from one of the city's piers. As crates were unloaded, locals lined up and loaded up. Even curious tourists were drawn to the unique and unusual.
With such a receptive audience eagerly awaiting his return, it only made sense to open a store. And in 1958 he opened the first store in San Francisco's famed Fisherman's Wharf and called it Cost Plus World Market. The store quickly became a destination for those who craved original and handmade items from around the world. Items were sold at cost, plus ten percent - hence the name Cost Plus World Market!

Standard Ground (3-8 Business Days)
Most items will be shipped to the 48 contiguous United States via Standard Ground service. You can expect your order to arrive within 3-8 business days after leaving our warehouse. Standard Ground items leave our warehouse within 1-2 business days after order receipt. For oversize or heavy items (e.g. furniture) see Freight below. Business days are Monday-Friday, excluding federal holidays within the United States
Expedited Delivery (1-3 Business Days)
Most items will give you the option to upgrade your shipping method for faster delivery (such as Second Day or Overnight service). If you choose to upgrade your shipping method, your order must be received and clear credit authorization by noon (EST) for Overnight and noon (EST) for Second Day or your order may not be processed until the following business day. Business days are Monday-Friday, excluding federal holidays within the United States.
Freight (7-14 Business Days)
Most oversize or oddly shaped items (Freight) must be shipped alone via a freight trucking company. Due to the nature of this service, we cannot offer expedited shipping. Delivery is by appointment Monday 鈥?Friday depending on your area.
Freight items usually arrive within 7-14 business days after leaving our warehouse and most Oversized items leave our warehouse within 5 business days. An estimate of when an item leaves our warehouse is indicated on the Product Detail page. Business days are Monday-Friday, excluding federal holidays within the United States.
Some remote areas are covered on a less frequent schedule than the major metropolitan areas and may require additional delivery time.
Most Freight deliveries will be delivered to the threshold of your home (garage, front entrance, etc.) or first dry area. The item will be kept in its original packaging, and assembly is not included.
Freight Delivery Surcharges
Oversize items cost more to ship due to overall size and/or weight. Therefore, a delivery surcharge will be billed in addition to the standard shipping charge. The actual amount of the surcharge will be noted on the individual product detail pages.
